The ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF ARCHEOLOGIA ARBOREA FOUNDATION, head office in San Lorenzo di Lerchi, is costituted on february 8th 2010 (registration Ufficio Entrate of Perugia n.1740 , March 4th 2010; fiscal code n. 90021060547). The natural members of the Committee are:

- Isabella Dalla Ragione - in the capacity of President;

- Francesco Bistoni – Magnificent Rector of the University of Perugia;

- Francesco Buccellato - Lawyer of the Court of Genoa.

- Stefano Cimicchi – Tourist Bureau, Umbria Regional Agency;

- Emile Frison – General Manager of Bioversity International;

- Monica Guerzoni - Journalist, RCS Corriere della Sera;

- Mario Marino – Support Officer – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations;

- Federica Micheli - Licenced public accountant in Perugia;

- Stefano Padulosi - Bioversity International.

- Tommaso Sediari – Professor of Agrarian Economy at the Faculty of Economy of the University of Perugia.

The COMMITEE is constituted for the following reasons

  1. the unanimous will to express deep gratitude for the precious work carried out by Livio and Isabella Dalla Ragione, as previously described;
  2. the awareness that, mostly owing to the recent death of Livio Dalla Ragione, the future of this outstanding, and yet strenuous and ever more costly endeavour, can not only rely on Isabella Dalla Ragione’s passion and zeal, also on account of the unavoidable conditionings that arise from the generational transition of the managing of San Lorenzo di Lerchi estate, which hosts the collection;
  3. the awareness that the invaluable heritage that is conserved in San Lorenzo di Lerchi is in danger of being rapidly and irretrievably lost, unless a proper relaunching and support strategy is followed to back Archeologia Arborea Project, whose survival depends on its constant growth;
  4. the acknowledgment of the reaffirmed wish of Isabella Dalla Ragione to share the enterprise with anyone who would like to support the purpose of relaunching and continuing the experience of Archeologia Arborea;
  5. the unavoidable necessity to properly design an organization that could carry on the work done by Livio, Isabella and the friends who supported them, also on account of the fact that the Committee can avail itself of Isabella’s wish for the gratuitous disposition of the plant Collection in San Lorenzo in favour of this organization; it is also her wish to ensure that this organization would purchase a part of the estate (for valuable consideration).

The COMMITTEE deemed that the most congruous prospect to meet the abovementioned requirements is the formation of a foundation for participation, i.e. an entity that unites the distinctive trait of all foundations, that is the asset allocation – in this case the assignation to the entity under formation of an invaluable and substantial heritage, consisting of the plant Collection in San Lorenzo di Lerchi –   with the typical attribute of participation, that means, in this case, that the founder/co-founder also participates in the managing of the resources deriving from fundraising. A copy of the charter, describing the organization and activity of the foundation can be consulted on the website: www.archeologiaarborea.org.

In accordance with the aforesaid points, and consistent with the directions and purposes expressed in the document herein, the COMMITTEE, which is a non-profit entity and whose members operate gratuitously:

- promotes an awareness campaign aimed at the involvement and participation of individuals and public and private institutions in the initiative;

- promotes and implements the appropriate raising of contributions and personal and material support, which are entirely aimed at the initiative;

Given that the formation of the participation for foundation is aimed at the purpose of social solidarity (as it is intended for operating in the sectors of conservation and upgrading of nature, environment and rural landscape, culture and artistic and historic heritage, education, scientific training and research of social interest), and in view of the ONLUS (Non-Profit Organization of Social Utility) qualification:

- the FOUNDATION supports, implements and upgrades the Arboreal Collection, entrusted as an asset by the Founder, Isabella Dalla Ragione, acknowledging that this Collection is the qualifying element of the endowment fund;

- the FOUNDATION persues the promotion and conservation of plant biodiversity, especially in the aforementioned territory;

- the FOUNDATION searches, studies and documents the background of the dissemination and extinction of the plant varieties;

- the FOUNDATION protects and promotes the San Lorenzo di Lerchi estate, where the Arboreal Collection is currently sited, and considers it to be the primary and permanent laboratory and museum as to its activities.
